Ocean City has long been known for its winter celebration Winterfest of Lights. With over 1 million lights sparkling at Northside Park in Ocean City, plus several other light displays placed throughout the city, Ocean City becomes a winter wonderland at Christmastime.
When you first arrive at Northside Park off of 125th Street, you can find a parking spot and follow the hordes of people. Pay $5 per person (Kids under 5 are free) at the ticket booth and then get in line to ride the tram! You can also buy tickets in advance so you skip the ticket line. Expect long waits on holiday weekends, but otherwise it’s not that bad.
After getting your ticket you enter the main tent, and can get in line right away to wait for your tram! Trams seat 5 people across, most seats are front facing but there are a couple of rows that face each other, so if you’re a group of 10 you could be seated so you can see each other and the lights.
The wait is short, but so is the ride, so stay focused or you’ll miss something awesome! Check out some crowd favorites like the “12 Days of Christmas” display, “Jaws”, or my personal favorite, the man on the swing jumping into the pond.
Both sides of the tram have lights so all is easy to see no matter where you sit!
Be sure to bring your holiday cheer, and sing along to the Christmas carols!
After the ride, you can explore the winter wonderland that is inside. With lots and lots of photo opportunities donated by local businesses, you can definitely get your holiday card photo taken here! Sit in a lifeguard stand, a huge jeep, or a white Christmas tree paradise, and then do some shopping or visit with Santa!
Photos with Santa are for sale, and personal photos are not allowed, so keep that in mind if you are going to get in the line to see him!
